We’re officially in winter now, and it’s officially freezing, with a cold snap engulfing Australia’s east coast as we dig out our heaters and coats.

WATCH BELOW: The street style trends making winter winds look chic during NYFW

Every year, Australians are a little puzzled by the onset of winter, readily forgetting the sparing weeks we spend shivering in favour of our ultra-warm weather across spring, summer, and autumn.

But as much as we hate the chill, we do need to keep going, and find a way to dress – especially for work – that’s going to keep us warm as we brave early commutes, early sunsets, and swirling winds throughout the streets.

These are some of our favourite winter dresses you can wear to work, which will pair easily with sneakers or boots, so your toes can keep warm too!

Keep scrolling to check them out.

Classy Dress in Tan, $89.95, from Esther & Co

This warm-toned maxi dress will keep you feeling soft and warm as you brave the elements on your way to work. Featuring a V-shaped neckline, long loose sleeves and a tie to the waist to cinch you in, it makes for the perfect casual dress to wear to work. Slide on some sneakers or ankle boots to match.

Forcast Rivera Button Up Knit Dress, $79, from The Iconic

Coming in both black and dark green, the knitted fabric of this dress makes for a perfect base layer. While you might need a coat over the top to brave the wind and rain, anything in a neutral tone will go perfectly.

Eufronita Knit Dress, $89.95, from Esther & Co

A bodycon maxi dress with a high neckline, the balloon sleeves on this dress give it something a little extra. It comes in a stunning, seasonal chocolate brown that will match any lighter-toned shoes. We recommend a casual sneaker to keep your feet toasty warm!

Isabelle Petite Mini Knit Dress, $129.99, from Forever New

You’ll have to pull out some tights or stockings to go with this one, but the over-sized style looks incredibly warm and inviting, as does its gentle pine tone. The wool blend fabric will protect you from the elements, and you can throw a jacket on top for added warmth if it’s needed.

Split Shoulder Jersey Dress, $149.95, from Witchery

While it is a little more on the expensive side, this is the kind of dress you’ll be able to pull out every winter for years to come. With a fit and flare silhouette, this style will look good on everyone. It will also match perfectly with the pair of black boots we’re guessing you already own!

Lottie Longline Knit Dress, $129.99, from Forever New

If you’re comfortable that you’re not going to spill coffee on yourself, this is the perfect winter work dress. The cream colour will look great against most skin tones, and the soft fabrication will keep you comfortable throughout the day. We also love that it has a little simple tie to cinch the waist in, too!
